Be Not Afraid

Matt. 14
27. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Peter was experiencing a miracle. He had his eye on the Savior, and he was walking on water. And then, he noticed the world around him, and he feared. He lost his focus; he lost his faith.

The Lord wasn’t far away. His hand was stretched out, waiting. I can just hear him saying, “Why did you take your eyes off of me? Why did you doubt?” And then, his voice quiets. “I was right here.”

He is right there. But how often do we forget it? How often do we lose sight of Him, because we fear?

The message I’m trying to give is simple: keep your eye on the Savior. And don’t lose sight of Him. He is our guide. He is our Good Shepherd. We can trust Him to lead us through.

We just need to have faith. :) So believe! And don’t give up. Because the Father and the Son will always be there for us – right there – if we’re looking for them. We can find them in prayer, in scripture, in love. But most of all, we can find them everywhere. :)
