News item #2. I am currently enrolled in the BYU-Idaho Pathway program and it's been an incredible experience so far. I love having the spiritual base for my education that LDS schools provide. This week in class, we learned about being lifelong learners. For one of my assignments, I was asked to write about someone who's been an example of that, and I chose my Granny. I never pass on an opportunity to brag about my Granny.
Billie Hunt loved learning, and I'm sure that on the other side of the veil, she's still learning everything she possibly can about the worlds our Father has created. Granny always wanted to learn more about cultures, languages, technology, etc. Even in her last months of life, she insisted on me giving her lessons on her computer. One of her greatest passions was painting, and she learned to create digital artwork using a stylus and drawing pad. She took piano lessons in her 70s and taught herself Spanish.
Near the close of Granny's life, my mom found an article on signs that show death is near. She showed it to Granny and Granny loved learning about that, too. When she passed away, I found a folder in her files titled "Things to learn." She didn't let age stop her from trying new things and expanding her horizons. She was a true lifelong learner. I am so grateful to have her example to follow.
I love you, Granny!
