Memories, dreams, the things I kept,
Held me back from what I left.
What did I do to move on you say?
I put them in a fire and burnt them away.
Moving on is a choice you make,
A choice people rarely take.
- Michael Klemetson
Making the choice to move on can be really hard. And in the numbers of everyone we know, someone is always going through it -- be it relationships, disappointments, losses, embarrassments. Letting go is a talent that I, for one, wasn't naturally given. I've had to work at it, and I'm still working. It's tough. But you know, after we manage it, there's a freedom and a beauty that didn't exist before. Fire cleanses the soul.
Every experience we have is for a reason, and each one teaches us something. But when we truly move on, we must only take the things that will help us progress. As this poem says, holding on to certain things can keep us from growing. Focusing on the negative, the lost, has no good purpose. But if we instead find freedom in the lessons learned, and walk on with only good feelings and memories (and new dreams), the future is bright :)
I've always said, Love with no regrets. I've followed those words, despised them, and sworn against them many times. But right now, in my heart, the truth is this: what's done is done, and there was always a reason. And I don't feel bad at all, because I trust my Father in Heaven. :) When we let our hearts reach out and touch others, it's a blessing, not a curse. And when it's time to walk away, that's okay too. Love wasn't made to be kept to ourselves. Christ counseled to love everyone. So ... simple: love everyone! Just don't forget about Love's Different Forms.
By the way! Michael is also a photographer and I love his work. You can see it on his Facebook page here. :) You guys are great!

I never could leave dirty diapers around. Always in the pail! Cloth, of course.
