Yesterday, I watched This Is Our Time. It was about five people who'd just graduated college, and were heading off in their different directions to fulfill their dreams in what they considered to be 'their time.' They had failures, successes, a marriage, a death - all of the things that we face in life. And as they experienced these things, they had to find the purpose of God in it all.
One wise man in the movie told another that it isn't what we do in life that matters, half as much as who we become. Now of course, we all have a purpose, and I believe every human being will - in his or her own way, and definitely in some big ways - accomplish great things. But this really struck me, because it's true. We're here on Earth to learn. We're here to grow. We're here to become like the Father who created us, and to return home ready for the next step in eternity.
We don't have to save the world or live in LA to fulfill our potential. We don't have to write a best-selling novel that changes lives ... even though that's my goal :) We don't have to be famous and on the covers of magazines, as long as we've become who we need to be inside. That's what matters. If we reach crazy heights and make all of our dreams come true, that's wonderful! But we can be content with simple, if simple if what God's planned for us.
We have dreams, we have passions, we have goals - and that's how it should be. But this isn't our time ... it's His time. We are His, and that's the beautiful thing. He knows where we're going. He knows what we can do. He knows what's best for us. He loves us, and will give us exactly what we need - even if it's not what we want. And in the end, we'll be so grateful. Hopefully we're pretty grateful already, but if not, now's never too late to start. I hear you're a lot happier when you're grateful :) (And from my own experience, I know it's true.)
Ecclesiastes 3:1
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.Trust Him, and He will show you the time.
2 Nephi 32:3
Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.Listen to Him, feast upon His words ... and He will also tell you what you should do. It's so simple, and yet, at times it's so difficult - which is why it is vital. Be strong, my friends, and always remember Him. Make it a great day :)
