H is for Hamilton Doesn't Hesitate
I am a self-proclaimed addict of the new Broadway musical, Hamilton. I love American history, and I love music, so Hamilton is basically heaven for me. My favorite song is Wait For It, and over the last few months, one line from that song has inspired me again and again.
Hamilton doesn't hesitate.Like most of you, I tend to procrastinate things - especially big things. So far, the biggest thing I've procrastinated was getting my GED (I was homeschooled and decided to graduate via GED test). When I moved to Utah, I had two tests completed. After sorting out some red tape, I took one more, and then I froze. I became too worried that I'd fail, and that I hadn't studied enough, so I kept putting it off. And then, one day, I was listening to Wait For It ... and it hit me. I didn't want to hesitate any longer. I didn't want to procrastinate. I wanted to succeed. So I scheduled the math test for the next day and took it on a leap of faith. I passed.
I couldn't have passed without the strength and help of God. I'm certain of that. And when I received my test results, I promised Him that I would procrastinate less. I haven't been perfect at it, but I've certainly done much better. I'm much happier when I stay on top of things and follow through on my commitments. I think He's been trying to tell me that for a long time.
When you know something is good and that God wants you to do it, don't hesitate. When you're prompted to serve, don't hesitate. When He gives you opportunities, don't hesitate. Even if it's terrifying and completely new territory, trust Him and leap. I've had some of my greatest experiences and blessings because I didn't hesitate.
