D is for Dream
Ah, what can I even say? General Conference today was so amazing! My brother pulled some strings and got my mom and me tickets, and I'm so grateful! The main theme today was definitely family, and I adore that, because I love my family - and I'm so excited to build one of my own. I admit, I'm not the biggest career type. My dream is to be a wife and a mother. I love my writing, and I'm serious about it, but it's having that marriage and children that really drives me to keep progressing. It's for them that I endure and try to make the best of my trials. It's for them that I don't give in. It's for my future husband and our marriage, and the children we'll raise. I'm fighting for my dream every day.
Elder Christofferson said today that marriage is a partnership with God - to rear the next generation. Love is ours, he said, but marriage is more. Marriage is a responsibility to build families and a strong foundation for children, based on faith in God. It's really a beautiful thing. You can do God's work in many ways, but motherhood is a true partnership, and that is my goal. It's my dream.
I'm so grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the restored gospel, and for the modern day prophets who teach us so much. I'm grateful for their inspired messages, and I bear my testimony that I know they are true. Elder Oaks said today that the topics for General Conference talks are assigned - not by men, but by God. He knows what we need to hear. He knows that the war against the family is strong, and that Satan will do all he can to tear it down. And so, we're being reminded of its importance. We're being reminded that the family is where it all began - with Adam and Eve, man and woman, beginning the chain of the generations. It's a magical thing to be a part of. We are all one big family. Rejoice in that. We're God's children, He loves us, and it's up to us to protect the sanctity of the family - and to carry it on.
I know there are many circumstances and trials that prevent good people from being parents, or even from finding eternal partners. My heart aches for them, and if you're one of them, God bless you. I know that we can all find strength in our Savior, no matter our trials. And that when we're physically unable to help the work in some ways, God will guide us to others. We can all help raise the generations, whether we're physically related to them or not, because we're all spiritually related. We're here for each other.
I love you all! Fight for your dreams.
