K is for Keep Your Focus

We had another performance last night, so I didn't manage to schedule this blog then, but I'm here now! :) And my analogy of the stage goes as follows.

When performing on stage, you can't see much beyond the lights, so performers are encouraged to pick a spot - usually right in front of them - to focus on. I like to keep my eyes on the balcony, while singing and dancing and feeling the energy of it all. I do better when I have a focus. The same goes for life.

The Mountain Harmony Show Choir :)

We all need a focus, and we have to be picky about which one we choose. Whether good or bad, our focus will guide us, because it's where we keep our eyes. It's what we see. We need to have a spiritual, uplifting, trustworthy focus. And who perfectly fits that description? Christ. <3 He is our perfect example, and when we're baptized, we covenant to always remember Him. We can remember Him in the greatest way by making Him our priority, listening for His promptings, and obeying His commandments.

Maybe we need to help others find their focus. Maybe we need to refine our own. Either way, we must remember how vital a focus is. When we have spiritual ties to keep us safe, we can soar higher than ever before. And when we do, we won't be lost. As long as our focus is on Christ, we will never be lost - but instead found, in His loving arms, forever.

  1. You are surely right about that Gwyn. We do need to keep ourselves focused in the right direction. Congrats on another show performance. I'm sure that you kept your focus and did a great job. Hugs

  2. As someone who is far too terrified to go on stage, congrats for being so brave!

  3. We heard that when I did theater in high school (I never was a major role--I sucked at acting!) I tried to put that same exercise to good use in public speaking, but you can see all those eyeballs staring at you, even when you focus on a point on the wall above all of them!

Visiting from the A to Z Challenge signup page. Great to meet you!

  4. FOCUS - that's my word this year. I do better at everything when I focus on it. Our pastor talked about focus last night... about how a lion trainer snaps the whip to get the lion's attention and focus. Then he pokes the 4-legged chair toward the lion but because the animal wants to keep eyes on all 4 legs of the chair, he looses his focus. I could identify. Sometimes I feel as though I'm trying to focus on way too many things. Enjoyed your post. I'm a new follower so I'm looking forward to many more good posts!
