T is for Truth
Just like the sun in this picture, truth shines brightly in darkness. Testimony shines. Faith shines. Confidence shines. If you have these things when it comes to God, yourself, and the gospel, you'll be impossible to miss. Sometimes it doesn't bring positive attention, but it's like a lyric from Taylor Swift's song "Ours": "People throw rocks at things that shine." I've found this to be very true. Tough, but sometimes inevitable.
And as Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge said in this last General Conference, "Truth will always be opposed." If we support truth, or have truth in our hearts, it's likely the world will fight against us - and often. But that doesn't mean we should stop shining. It means we should shine even brighter and farther than before.
Do you have a true testimony? Are you converted? Are you willing to shine? These are all questions you must ask yourself. Is it worth it to you? Do you want to drive away darkness with every step you take? It's possible. With God, anything is possible. But you have to build a sure foundation for yourself, and then let it show. We can't hide our talents, or our gifts. We can't hide what we believe. Maybe being shy was acceptable in the past, but now days, we can't afford it. We can't be silent anymore. The world needs truth too badly. The world needs light.
Think about this, and ask yourself what you're willing to give. God asks us to give of ourselves in service and love. God asks us to shine. If you have light, why hold it and let it burn out, when you can simply set it free? I've battled with this my entire life. I know how hard it is. Sometimes I've wanted to back down so badly, because the persecution was terrible. But I don't intend to back down anymore. I encourage all of you to do the same. If you have the faith, share it. If you have the knowledge, share it. If you have the talent - big or small - share it. You never know how many hearts you might touch.
Shine. <3

Exactly! Thank you. :)
DeleteGreat post! Let it shine! Let your light shine on!
ReplyDeleteI have found once people know our beliefs and testimony they expect us to shine. They watch us. We set examples whether we want to or not. We are held to a higher standard. We had better stand true to the faith.
