I'm sure we've all seen this at one time or another: the indicator that tells us we're out of fuel. The yellow light turns on, and some of us panic, before finding the nearest gas station and filling up again. It's a part of life that we just can't avoid. But what we may not realize ... is that it's part of our spiritual lives as well.
How often do you fuel up? Do you make the scriptures a part of your life, and pray often? Do you keep your spiritual gauge at Full, or more around Empty? And if you do hit empty, do you find it extremely difficult to get back on the road? You're not alone. Just like in real life, when you hit empty, it costs more to fuel up - and it takes longer.
You can fall lightly and jump back into things, but the farther down you get, the harder it is to make that jump at all. It becomes a slow and steady process - of reaching for the Savior's hand and making the effort to get back up.
Our tank has to fill up drop by drop, moment by moment - not within seconds just because we say so. A testimony isn't something to gain instantly. If it was instant to have, it would be instant to lose as well, and that's dangerous. So we must make the effort, because an engine without fuel doesn't go on forever - and when it stops, it's painful. <3
Don't linger by the empty mark. Keep yourself spiritually fueled, and life will be so much better. :) After all, the yellow light means caution and slow down. But when the yellow light turns off, the green light can come on, and we can progress and shoot for the stars. :) So fuel up!
